Djokovic beats Nadal to claim his first US Open title Posted: 13 Sep 2011 01:39 PM PDT I’m sure some of you have watched the US Open final the other day with Novak Djokovic totally kicking Rafael Nadal’s ass at Flushing Meadows to show everyone who’s the best player in the game right now. The world number one has already been twice in the final of the US Open, including last year’s final against Nadal but this year he finally managed to win his first US Open title after a 6-2 6-4 6-7 6-1 victory against Nadal. The new title is actually his third Grand Slam victory in 2011 after having won the Australian Open and Wimbledon in a brilliant year that also made him reach #1. What I like the most about Djokovic, apart from his masterful gameplay, tactics and precision is the fact that he’s damn cool, doing crazy stuff on and off the field, not like the cry-baby Nadal or the pretty boring Federer. I’m sure you all agree with me on this. Both players showed an incredible tennis, including some epic rallies that everyone enjoyed but… Djokovic was the one who won all the key moments of the game. In each of the first two sets, Nadal started with a 2-0 lead, only to be demolished by Novak who managed to win the first sets in a brilliant way. The third set was the longest, lasting 84 minutes and to his credit, Nadal fought back to win it in a tiebreaker. But then Novak Djokovic raced through the fourth set to leave no one in doubt that he is the world’s number one right now sealing the victory after four hours and 10 minutes.
